The Clean and Green Versions of the GTM 40TR Racer

Here's a whole new definition of British racing green. The launch of GTM’s ultra light two-seater 40TR on the mid-March is confirmed. With the company's joint venture with Stadco Engineering, the new car was designed. And the good news is that the green car will be using biofuel to run the car.

GTM wanted to produce cars does not only run on the race track but also is capable of environmental preservation as well. With the demand of eco-friendly cars, the niche manufacturer decided to develop biofuel and street-legal version of the GTM 40TR. The car was produced in celebration of its 40th year anniversary.

The racing car is powered by a 2.0 liter Type R Honda engine making 220 horsepower which is capable of making the vehicle zoom from zero to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. That makes a powerful top speed of more than 150 mph. With is outstanding powertrain parts and aluminum superstructure exterior, the new car starts at a cost equivalent to $27,425 to $31,350.

"In 1967, when the GTM marque was launched, we manufactured cars for track racing. We gradually moved into mainstream automotive manufacturing, but for our 40th anniversary, we wanted to reintroduce GTM to the world of motorsport," said Lloyd Taylor, GTM Cars' general manager.

Saab Unveils BioPower Hybrid Concept

At this year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, General Motors’ Saab Automobile division has launched the BioPower Hybrid Concept, which displays Saab’s latest development in the ethanol BioPower and hybrid technology.

"This concept allows us to evaluate and explore the potential of hybrid technology in combination with BioPower.” said Jan Åke Jonsson, Managing Director of Saab Automobile AB.

"As part of this process, we are now developing our expertise further by introducing the 2-mode hybrid technology. It shows how we can continue to express the sporty performance associated with Saab while using renewable resources and saving energy overall." he added.

The BioPower Hybrid Concept uses the same specs and design as the Saab 9-3 Convertible, but it is equipped with a different powertrain technology. This technology combines fossil fuel-free bio-ethanol fuel (E100) capability with electric propulsion by using the advanced 2-mode hybrid system.

Under the hood of the Saab BioPower Hybrid Concept is a 2.0-liter turbo BioPower engine that is capable of delivering 260 horsepower and produces 277 pound-feet amount of torque. The three electric motors add power output of 148 kW. The engine also features flex-fuel capability and can use any combination of gasoline and bio-ethanol fuel. With this type of engine, the BioPower Hybrid Concept produces zero CO2 emissions as well as enhancing performance and fuel economy. As for a GM branded vehicle, the BioPower Hybrid Concept is also equipped with high-quality Saab parts.

Muffler Pollution Control

Today, various car products that are “more” friendly to the environment are flooding the market. And I think this is a very good news to environmentalists like myself.

So while I was browsing the net earlier today, I happened to see this new product that reduces exhaust noise, produces more power and solves the worldwide air pollution problem produced by motor vehicles.

The Negative Supercharging Emission Vapouriser (EV) muffler is a revolutionary breakthrough in pollution control technology. It uses a new "thermal friction" technique that, 1) vapourises the exhaust gases to reduce emissions to ZERO, 2) wears out the sound waves to reduce exhaust noise and 3) increases gas speed to produce more power.

The EV muffler is compact, costs less than conventional mufflers and can be fitted to any part of the exhaust system. Fits all vehicles from vintage, musclecars, pickups, trucks, RV's, SUV's, motorcycles, boats, planes to new vehicles. Works with carburetor, Diesel, LPG, Propane or EFI systems.
