If the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show prepared the main course for the hungry auto fanatics, then the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show will serve as the luscious dessert! If didn’t had enough from Frankfurt, maybe Tokyo will satisfy our cravings for latest and greatest cars! Everybody is in great anticipation, waiting for the grand opening of the prestigious show in Japan. It’s going to be one of the hottest events of the year, that’s for sure - surely as hot as an overheating BMW 320i radiator!

One of the most anticipated parts of the event is the unveiling of Nissan’s four concept cars that is equipped with Nissan’s latest ground-breaking technologies!

Major technology details courtesy of TheAutoChannel.com:

Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) System
Nissan's new VVEL technology significantly enhances both and environmental performance and power output, merging amplified throttle reaction and superior torque with lesser fuel consumption and cleaner emissions. The VVEL system directs the intake air mass straight via the intake valves while a normal engine navigates the intake air mass with the use of the throttle valve. According to the pressure applied to the accelerator, this is attained by erratically controlling the event angle and elevates the intake valves constantly.

Clean Diesel Vehicles
Nissan confirmed that it would start bringing in clean diesel vehicles in Japan, North America and China by fiscal year 2010 as part of the Nissan Green Program 2010. These new clean diesel engines will abide by with future’s exhaust emission policy in these markets. A new clean diesel engine is planned for the opening on the X-TRAIL SUV in autumn 2008 in Japan. On the other hand, U.S., a clean diesel engine that meets the terms with the Tier 2 Bin 5 requirements is scheduled to be offered on the 2010 Maxima.

Technology Features in PIVO 2
Compact Lithium-Ion Battery
Nissan's packed in lithium-ion battery technology, one of the company's traditional strengths, gives batteries with twice as much energy compared with a conventional cylindrical battery of the same type - while also ensuring safer operation due to the use of chemically stable spinal-structured manganese for the electrode material.

3D Motor
Nissan is enhancing a new disk-type motor that achieves a remarkable amplify in power density over usual motors. This development branches from the finest design of magnets and electromagnets, along with high-efficiency multiphase existing control.

Around View Monitor
Around View Monitor provides images to the driver of the complete area around the vehicle. Taken by four high-resolution, 180-degree wide-angle cameras mounted at the front, rear and on both sides of the vehicle, these images are synthesized and shown on an instrument panel display, giving the driver a "bird's-eye view" of what is occurring outside of the vehicle.

Distance Control Assist System
Distance Control Assist System use a radar sensor fixed at the front of the vehicle, which calculates the distance to the a vehicle in front of the Nissan Distance Control Assist System host vehicle, as well as the previous vehicle's relative speed.
