Honda’s Greenest Car of 2007

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy recently announced the Greenest Car of 2007 award. Honda’s natural-gas-powered Civic GX was the lucky one to receive the award while the diesel-powered Volkswagen Touareg was not so honored so as to be named as the year’s most “environmentally unfriendly” vehicle.
The second spot after the Honda Civic RX belonged to the Toyota Prius while the third spot was again taken by the Honda Civic Hybrid. On the fourth spot is the Nissan Altima Hybrid thus taking the Toyota Yaris to the fifth spot. Looks like the top five spots were all occupied by Japanese automakers. This is maybe because of the catalytic converter units found on each hybrid car. But now I’m asking: what happened to the domestic auto makers?
Well, it’s a bit bad of publicity for the European cars to be found at the very bottom of the list. The top meanest cars in the list include the Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI, the Lamborghini Murciélago, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the Bentley Arnage RL. Other vehicles like the Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab, the Ford F-250 and the Lincoln Navigator were also included on the mean list.
Toyota was the very first one to start the making hybrid cars which is why I guess the crown belongs to its fellow Japanese auto maker, Honda. For European cars, I guess they should go with the demand of producing eco-friendly cars.
