Saab Unveils BioPower Hybrid Concept

“As part of this process, we are now developing our expertise further by introducing the 2-mode hybrid technology. It shows how we can continue to express the sporty performance associated with Saab while using renewable resources and saving energy overall.” he added.
The BioPower Hybrid Concept uses the same specs and design as the Saab 9-3 Convertible, but it is equipped with a different powertrain technology. This technology combines fossil fuel-free bio-ethanol fuel (E100) capability with electric propulsion by using the advanced 2-mode hybrid system.
Under the hood of the Saab BioPower Hybrid Concept is a 2.0-liter turbo BioPower engine that is capable of delivering 260 horsepower and produces 277 pound-feet amount of torque. The three electric motors add power output of 148 kW. The engine also features flex-fuel capability and can use any combination of gasoline and bio-ethanol fuel. With this type of engine, the BioPower Hybrid Concept produces zero CO2 emissions as well as enhancing performance and fuel economy. As for a GM branded vehicle, the BioPower Hybrid Concept is also equipped with high-quality Saab parts.
